Frequently Asked Questions

Turnaround periods for editing or proofreading your academic writing are as follows:

1. 0–5,000 words: 4 working days (i.e., excluding weekends and holidays)
2. 5,000–9,999 words: 5 working days
3. 10,000–14,999 words: 6 working days
4. 15,000–20,000 words: 7 working days

For files of more than 20,000 words, we discuss the turnaround time on a case by case basis.
If you need your editing or proofreading returned sooner than these schedules allow, we also offer a rush service for an additional fee. For the rush service, we return the work 1 day early for an extra 10% of the original fee, 2 days early for an extra 20%, and so on.
For example, if you had an essay of 11,000 words that you needed returned within 4 days, the fee for the fast service would be an additional 30% on top of the basic rate, as you would require the work back 3 days early (factoring in weekend days).
What is the process to get my work proofread / edited?

• Send your file to editors@proseperfect.co.uk, including information about when you need it returned, and any specific relevant information (e.g. UK / US English, referencing style required, if you need the word count reduced, any aspects you want specific attention devoted to).
• We’ll confirm the fee.
• You pay the fee, and confirm with us.
• We complete the editing / proofreading, and return the work to you.
• You follow up with any further queries or requests.

We ask for payment in advance, before we begin work.

We can accept payment via PayPal, bank transfer (to a UK bank), or Transferwise. If none of these are suitable, contact us to discuss alternatives.

Yes, universities consider proofreading and editing an acceptable practice for student essays, dissertations and papers. Different universities have different specific requirements and standards. If you let us know where you study, we’ll ensure that we adhere to your university’s rules.

We guarantee to meet the requirements stipulated according to the service chosen, as well as any specific requirements communicated in writing and acknowledged by us in advance of the work being commenced. If you feel such requirements have not been met, please contact us as soon as possible to indicate this. We will consider the points, and make any necessary changes as quickly as we can.
Refunds are considered only in exceptional cases, where the above-discussed remediation fails to provide a result in line with original commitments, and objectively demonstrable circumstances corroborate the appraisal of the failure of the work to meet such standards.

Your editing / proofreading will be done by someone with postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field, and extensive practical experience. It will then be checked by a second editor, and sent back for re-editing if this is judged necessary.

Yes, we are able to provide a 100% guarantee of confidentiality of your documents. They will be shared only with the personnel who need to see them, and no one else. We ensure that up-to-date data protection standards are applied on all our machines, and we have in place protocols to ensure that no data leakage can occur. If you want a non-disclosure agreement or an equivalent document before sending us your work, this can be provided.
